White Dog Cafe University City Review

Originally opened in 1983, White Dog Cafe in University City is a true pioneer in what we now consider to be the local, sustainable food movement. With that in mind, restaurateur Marty Grims purchased White Dog from Judy Wicks in 2009. And in doing so, he brought sleek, yet welcoming designs while maintaining the environmentally sound model. Consistent with all of his restaurants, he continues to ensure well-executed and creative dishes as well. Having just celebrated the 35th anniversary, the University City cafe recently expanded by adding 82 seats. This includes a bar and a lower-level solarium. Designed by the folks from Rohe Creative, floral fabrics and garden furniture keep it all in theme with White Dog's uniquely whimsical rooms.

Cocktails: Honey Mule [$13] | McGruff Manhattan [$13]

Local is name for the cocktails as well. Having recently gone on a Philadelphia Distilling Company tour, I was excited to see both Bluecoat Barrel Reserve bourbon and their barrel-finished gin on display in their McGruff Manhattan - boozy, yet smooth, with a bit of sweetness coming through on the finish. The GF enjoyed her Honey Mule, which featured Penn 1681 vodka, along with the sweet spice of the Fruitlab ginger liqueur and Q brands ginger beer.

Squash Fritters [$12]
Chili curry emulsion, pickled vegetables, micro cilantro

To start, we enjoyed the seasonal squash fritters. Crisp nuggets of hearty squash married well with the chili curry emulsion underneath, with the countervailing bite of the pickled veggies offering up a nice acidic balance.

Kennett Square Mushroom Soup [$10]
Truffle creme fraiche, snipped chives

I always have to get the mushroom soup here. Not only are the Kennett Square mushrooms local, they doesn't get any better. Poured tableside, the earthy umami punch from the mushrooms hits you along with the faintest scent of truffle from the creme fraiche underneath. Don't forget to mop up the last spoonfuls with the house-baked bread.

Locust Point Chicken Chopped Salad [$22]
Smoked bacon, Birchrun blue cheese, hard boiled egg, red onion, ranch dressing

For the GF's main, she opted for the chopped salad, featuring grilled Locust Point chicken. It's enough for two, with the funk of Birchrun blue offering up hearty savoriness along with the crisp bits of bacon, hard-boiled egg, and ranch-dressed greens.

Green Meadow Double Cheddar Burger [$19] + Farm Egg [$2] + 1732 Meats Bacon [$2]
Grilled red onion, tomato, smoked bacon mayo, truffle Parmesan fries

Do get the burger here. Green Meadow Farms beef is juicy and well-seasoned with a nicely seared crust. I opted for a farm-fresh egg and 1732 meat bacon - the perfect combo. Each bite is amplified by the fact that there's smoked bacon mayo covering the buttery brioche. And to complement this behemoth? White Dog's killer truffle parm fries. Trust me - if you're at any Fearless Restaurant (think: Autograph, The Deck, Moshulu, White Dog Wayne), you'll be missing out if you don't order the fries. Crispy on the outside with a great chew to the spuds within, the perfume of truffle and the salty hit of parm will have you dreaming for more.

Kennett Square Mushroom Gratin [$9]

I'd highly recommend ordering the mushroom gratin as well. And why not when they're this tasty, especially when melded with cream and truffled bread crumbs. Delectable.

Apple Pie Bread Pudding [$9]
Croissant bread pudding, brown sugar bourbon ice cream

We ended our meal with the apple pie bread pudding - comforting, sweet, and with a nice juxtaposition between the warm pudding and the house-made bourbon ice cream. The brown sugar notes really came through.

So if you're in University City, I'd highly recommend stopping by White Dog Cafe for any meal. Judging by the crowds at the bar and dining in on a Saturday at 6PM, I'd say the neighborhood agrees. Pro-tip: for brunch, I'd definitely ask to be seated in the solarium - it's a visual treat that will complement the tasty dishes that are sure to come out.

Founding Farmers King of Prussia Review

If you've ever been to the King of Prussia Town Center, you know it's a burgeoning enclave, replete with a myriad of dining options beyond your typical mall eats. In fact, I'd venture to say that it's well worth the drive out from Center City because I have yet to be disappointed by any of the restaurants. And after visiting the newly opened Founding Farmers, I'd highly recommend it as one of your first stops on your KoP food tour.

Clockwise from Top Right: Founding Farmers' hand-crafted liquors | Upstairs Bar Area | Downstairs Cafe

The first three locations are in D.C. and Virginia and considering the name of the restaurant, it only made sense to come to Philadelphia. The values of the American family farmer are at the core of what they do, with more than 47,000 family farmers owning the majority stake in this restaurant group. Each menu item is made in-house daily. They also work diligently to ensure sustainability and with a focus on scratch cooking. They grind their own meat, press their own juices, bake their own bread, and yes, even churn their own butter. You can definitely taste the difference! Downstairs, they have a to-go cafe and upstairs, they offer a la carte dining all day. On the weekends, you can get a full taste of all of their offerings. Their Farmers Market Buffet Brunch is $29 pp and even includes passed items straight to your table. It's only $14 for children ages 7-12 and free if they're 6 and under!

Clockwise from Top Right: First Bake Blend Drip Coffee from Compass Coffee | Super Premium Tea Time | Breakfast Cocktails | Scratch-made Manhattan Soda [Coffee, Espresso, Jerk Soda, Whipped Cream]

Also included in your meal is tea service and Compass Coffee's First Bake Blend drip coffee (a company started by two former marines!). Of course, you can also indulge in a variety of breakfast cocktails and scratch-made sodas. I really enjoyed the Manhattan soda, which definitely offered up an effervescent caffeine jolt in my step to the buffet.

Clockwise from Top Right: Bacon Lollies | Spinach & Tomato Eggs Benedict | Fried Shrimp | Pierogi Cart

But before I even had a chance to do so, the servers came around to our table offering up a variety of dumplings from their pierogi cart, bacon lollies which were reminiscent of candied jerk bacon, spinach & tomato eggs benedict, and fried shrimp with a wonderfully crispy and meaty texture.

Clockwise from Top Right: French Toast | Breakfast Staples | Bruleed Grapefruit | Carving Table [Maple Black Pepper Bacon, Picnic Ham. Brisket, Turkey]

After the initial foray into what Founding Farmers had to offer, I had to check out what else was available. You'll find everything you'd ever want or need for breakfast, including hash browns, eggs (they have a cacio e pepe iteration!), sausages, fruit, french toast, and pancakes. Head over to the carving station for ham, brisket or turkey. I obviously went back for seconds of the hand-carved maple black pepper bacon - thick-cut, juicy, and unctuous.

Clockwise from Top Right: Hot Crab & Artichoke Dip | Winter Stew | Seven Cheese Mac | Cheese Ravioli Bolognese

Looking for even heartier fare? Indulge in crab and artichoke dip, a meaty winter stew, indulgent seven cheese mac, or their homemade cheese ravioli with a hearty bolognese sauce.

Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas | Spicy & Regular Southern Fried Chicken

You'd be remiss if you didn't try their chicken enchiladas. But you're a fool if you don't grab the fried chicken. They offer up a spicy and regular version and it was definitely some of the best fried chicken I've had in recent memory. A crisp well-seasoned batter housed tender, moist chicken that was perfect to pair with ...

Buck's Donuts | Philadelphia Vanilla Bean Cheesecake | Build Your Own Sundae Bar

Donuts! All baked in-house, Founding Farmers offered up a variety of glazed, baked, and filled donuts that are also seasonal (pumpkin spice lovers will be happy!). They also have blondies, vanilla bean cheesecakes, trifles, fruit crisps, and a build-your-own ice cream sundae bar if donuts aren't enough to satiate your sweet tooth!

So what are you waiting for? If you're venturing out to the KoP mall, don't stick to what you know. Head over to the Town Center and check out what Founding Farmers has to offer. You won't be disappointed!

The Deck Philly Review

A few weeks back, I stopped by the Moshulu to preview the opening of The Deck. I was blown away by the recent renovations. The topside of Penn's Landing's venerable ship was beautifully done, with plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy Philly's sunsets while sipping some summer cocktails. And what better venue to enjoy brunch, perhaps after working in some on-the-deck Sunday yoga? This past Thursday, the GF and I popped in to try some of The Deck's dishes and indulge in their shakes!

Tuna Tartare [$18]
Citrus lime marinade

We started off with the tuna tartare, which was spot on. I appreciated that the tuna wasn't so finely diced so that I could appreciate the quality of the fish. The marinade didn't overpower, but imparted a nice citrus-soy bite, all atop a California king-size bed of creamy avocado. Crispy onion strings, radish, and jalapeno added some texture, along with the accompanying buttered crostini.

Spanish Octopus [$17]
Preserved lemon

The octo's a must-order in my mind. Lightly charred on the outside, it cut like butter and was incredibly tender. Clearly a lot of time went into the prep of the cephalopod, not to mention the dish itself. Plated with root vegetables for some heft as well as preserved lemons for some acidity, I especially enjoyed the bite of the black garlic paste, which was tempered by the aioli. Do get this!

New England Lobster Roll [$27]
Butter poached lobster, cole slaw, Old Bay potato chips

Summer in the city means it's the perfect time for a lobster roll. And The Deck's got you covered with plenty of sweet lobster piled high atop a pillowy, buttered roll. The Old Pay potato chips were homemade and transported us right to Maine. The surprising standout? The cole slaw! I know I'll be adding dill to all my slaw moving forward. It was so good that the GF had to slap my fork away from her plate.

Prime Burger [$24]
10 oz. patty, bacon onion jam, cheddar, mustard aioli, sesame brioche, fries

For my main, I went with their burger, which boasted 10 oz. of Prime beef, though I have a feeling mine was a full pound. Along with a beautifully salty crust revealing juicy beef within, the wall of cheese cascading over the patty was unreal. Housemade bacon-onion jam sealed the deal by bringing each bite over the top. Make sure to ask for an extra napkin! The crisp fries were well-seasoned and the mustard aioli was addictive. In fact, if you get a standalone order of fries as a Happy Hour snack, I'd ask for that aioli!

The Deck Shakes [$16 each]
Chocolate Tasty Shake
Chocolate Ganache, Philly Candies, Soft Pretzel, Whipped Cream, Peanut Butter Tasty Cakes
Wild Thang Strawberry Shake
Vanilla Buttercream, Pastel Candies, B'day Cake, Whipped Cream, Pink Caramel Angel Hair

Of course if there's anything you've got to try at least once, it's The Deck Shakes. When these bad boys came out, I noticed that all the patrons gaped and turned their heads in awe as it came to our table. The Chocolate Tasty Cake hit all the right notes between salty and sweet, featuring a cornucopia of Philly soft pretzels, Tasty Cakes, peanut butter cups, chocolate candies, and plenty of whipped cream. Beneath it all was a cool and creamy chocolaty shake that's perfect for a summer sugar high. The Wild Thang features an entire slice of birthday cake, pink caramel angel hair strands, vanilla KitKats, and a delicious strawberry shake, along with a rainbow of chocolate candies studding the body of the glass.

Beyond their ridiculous shakes, The Deck offers "Deck Jugs," which features their top cocktails mixed and served in a Jug dispenser for parties of two or more! Perfect for an after-work meetup with coworkers and friends. So be sure to stop on by - where else can you enjoy your Philly summer on a ship, by the water, and with great food and drinks!

Moshulu Brunch Review

As the world's oldest and largest floating square-rigged sailing vessel, the Moshulu has been a stalwart backdrop to the Delaware Waterfront. It's the only restaurant venue on a Tall ship and has been serving diners since 1975, though with a well-executed and modernized menu. Other claims to fame? After being confiscated by the U.S. Navy during WWI, Mrs. Woodrow Wilson herself re-named the ship, the Moshulu. And nearer and dearer to Philly's heart? It's featured during one of Rocky's workout sequences!

Moshulu Brunch Review

Moshulu's well-known for its holiday brunches, where you'll find a myriad of options to satisfying any diner's cravings, from carving to omelette stations. And during the summer, the deck is where it's at. There's no better spot to enjoy a cocktail or a glass of champagne a la Andy Samberg because, yes you're on a boat.

Champagne

Moshulu Brunch Review - Champagne

Speaking of champagne, I stopped by with the GF to check out Executive Chef Anthony Bonett's new spring brunch menu and were greeted with a few flutes of bubbly. I've got to say that service is top notch here as I saw several tables celebrating special occasions, with the managers and servers similarly elevating their experience.

Bread Service

During brunch, expect a sweeter touch for bread service. The housemade coffee crumb cake is crumbly indeed, served with a pat of whipped butter. Butter + coffee cake. Who knew? The Moshulu did and I'm glad. Great texture and buttery, yet with a nice lightness from within.

Shrimp & Crab Bloody Mary Cocktail [$13]
Cucumber, avocado, tortilla chips

Moshulu Brunch - Crab & Shrimp Bloody Cocktail

The GF started off with the shrimp and crab cocktail, enhanced with a bit of kick from the Moshulu's Bloody Mary recipe. The sweetness of the crab and the snappy shrimp was contrasted nicely by the texture of the ripe avocado and the crispness of some shredded lettuce underneath. Easily enjoyed with some of their just-fried tortilla chips.

Crab Mac n Cheese [$12]
Truffle bread crumbs

Moshulu Brunch - Crab Mac n Cheese

If mac n cheese is on the menu, you know I've got to order it. And I'm so glad I did. Moshulu's version was especially creamy, with the base of the cheese sauce coating the al dente cavatappi noodles. There were wonderfully sharp notes from the cheddar, along with an innate sweetness from the bits of crab studded throughout. Loved that Chef Bonett didn't inundate the actual mac with truffle oil and deftly accented it with truffled bread crumbs instead. Long story short? Get the crab mac. Hopefully it'll make an appearance on a Happy Hour deck menu!

Bloody Mary [$10]

Moshulu Brunch - Bloody Mary

Brunch is always better with the punch of a good Bloody Mary. And Moshulu's got three iterations to cater to your inner lush. The GF went with the regular vodka Bloody, which showcased their house-made mix - clearly fresh and had a spicy kick that didn't uncomfortably linger. Definitely not the sugary tomato juice mix from the store. I enjoyed the sweet smoke that came from the bourbon in my Kentucky Bloody. And for fans of tequila, check out their Bloody Maria!

Pro tip: For $14, the Moshulu offers bottomless Bloodies and mimosas. There aren't many places in Philly that can say that - or at that price!

Charcuterie & Cheese

Moshulu Brunch - Charcuterie

Chef also sent out a gorgeous charcuterie plate, which included house-cured salumi - coppa, bresoala, and luxurious duck prosciutto that simply melted upon mastication. Adorned with pickled pearl onions and carrots, crostini, mustard, and pickles, the smorgasbord was paired with a half-wheel of baked brie with roasted golden raisins, honey, and Marcona almonds. I know I'll be baking my brie at home with golden raisins from here on out!

Crab Cake Eggs Benedict [$24]
Creamed spinach, chive hollandaise, Canadian bacon, English muffin

Moshulu Brunch - Crab Cake Eggs Benedict

For my main, I went with the crab cake benedict. I'd highly recommend you do the same. A healthy portion of lump crab cake is without much, if any, filler. It sits atop a crisp English muffin and Canadian bacon, with the heft of the dish amplified by creamed spinach, perfectly poached eggs and a rich, creamy hollandaise. Served with Moshulu's tender hash potatoes and some acid provided by well-dressed greens, you can't go wrong with this dish if you're a fan of eggs bennies.

Multigrain Banana Pancakes [$16]
Peanut butter, toasted peanuts, chocolate chips, double cut bacon, maple syrup

Moshulu Brunch - Multigrain Banana Pancakes

The GF opted for a bit of sweet with their hearty multi-grain banana pancakes, which were studded with ripe banana slices, chocolate chips, and dusted with powdered sugar. It was also served with amazingly thick and crisp bacon to provide that perfect marriage between salty and sweet. The only way to enhance the bite? A healthy drizzle of maple syrup.

Moshulu Hash Potato [$5]

Moshulu Brunch - Hash Potato

For you carb lovers out there, try their potato hash - lightly crisped on the griddle and creamy within, topped with chives.

Chocolate Lux Layer Cake [$12]
Dark chocolate mousse, cherry vanilla chocolate chunk ice cream

Moshulu Brunch - Chocolate Lux Layer Cake

Don't neglect the dessert menu! If you're looking to end your meal with chocolaty decadence,  my money's on the luxe cake. Adorned with a disc of milk chocolate and gold leaf, the moist cake has a dark chocolate ganache and chocolate butter cream. The accompanying cherry vanilla ice cream had a great mouth-feel and broke up the richness of the cake.

Along with the great food and execution by Chef Bonett's kitchen, the service was top notch. Unsurprising because this is a Marty Grims / Fearless Restaurants operation. So if you're looking for the perfect venue for a riverside brunch, look no further than the Moshulu. They recently renovated the deck, with plans to offer a la carte dining up top. There's even got a retractable roof for inclement weather. Be sure to be on the look out for their Happy Hours as well!

Teassert Bar Review

Originating from Thailand, hand-rolled ice cream is all the rage these days. First taking LA and New York by storm, the craze has hit our fair city over the past few months. The most recent entry comes from Teassert Bar in Chinatown.

It's a bright, inviting space that was definitely a cooling respite from the muggy heat wave. There's plenty of seating, with Jenga, Connect Four, and free Wi-Fi to enjoy with your ice cream or bubble tea.

Thai Iced Tea Bubble Tea [$3.50 Regular | $4.50 Large]

The Thai Iced Tea was everything you'd expect - cool, refreshing, creamy, and sweet. Teassert offers freshly brewed teas with pure cane sugar - there's no fructose or artificial powders at all! You can customize the sweetness and ice levels and choose from tapioca, popping boba, or lychee jelly as well!

But really, it's all about the hand-rolled ice cream. On what is basically an anti-griddle, the ingredients for your ice cream are poured on. How fresh is Teassert Bar? Literally only three ingredients were used to make our strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Cream was poured on top of strawberries and cheesecake, chopped, and then rolled out to a wonderfully creamy consistency.

Green Tea Teassert Waffle [$8]
Strawberry cheesecake

We first tried the Hong Kong style waffle, which is a crisp egg-based waffle that had a wonderful texture with the subtle essence of green tea. A nice juxtaposition alongside the creamy strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Better yet? Unlimited toppings including fruit, chocolate, whipped cream, syrups, and Pocky sticks!

Snickers Ice Cream Roll [$7]
Peanuts, caramel, chccolate

We also enjoyed the Snickers, which had peanuts, caramel, and chocolate interspersed within the hand-rolled ice cream. Topped with brownie bits, M&M's, syrup, and Oreo's, this was a decadent delight!

So if you're looking for the latest fad or simply want high-quality and hand-crafted ice cream, be sure to check out Teassert Bar! For those that are lactose intolerant, they offer non-dairy sorbets as well. Do keep in mind that they really are crafting the ice cream right in front of you, so it'll take a few minutes. It's not as simple as scooping out of a gallon drum and moving on to the next customer. But trust me, it'll be well worth the wait!

Bank and Bourbon Review

Regular readers know that I'm a fan of Bank and Bourbon's annual Bourbon Bash. It's an event that every foodie should have marked on their calendars as it's the perfect venue to taste all of South Philly-bred Chef Thomas Harkin's incredibly executed dishes. A stalwart of the Philadelphia Loews from the SoleFood days, he stayed on to "bank" on the hotel's new vision. Chef Harkin and his incredible team epitomize how hotel restaurants have come a long way, whether it's the incredible sourcing of ingredients or the farm-to-table approach. It's no wonder that the 2 bells from Craig LaBan was nearing a third ring for this long-time veteran.

Bread Service

The GF and I were invited to come in to try the new spring menu and as always, meals start off with fresh sourdough and a pat of room temp butter to enjoy.

Champagne

Coupes of champagne were sent over - much appreciated! This was a nice dry sparkler to kick off the night.

Hamachi [$12]
Pickled plum, avocado, ginger oil

Bank and Bourbon - Hamachi

I love a good crudo and Chef Harkin does his right. The fish was the star, with the wonderful meatiness of the hamachi coming. I appreciated the light accents from the ginger oil and acidity from the pickled plum and jalapeno. The avocado mousse helped to create an even better mouth-feel for each bite.

Warm Corn Salad [$9]
Snow peas, candied walnuts, lime, Parmesan

Bank and Bourbon - Warm Corn Salad

The corn salad was a fresh summer standout and definitely the GF's favorite. The sweet corn kernels had bite and the texture from the candied walnuts and snowpeas helped to create an interesting melange of flavors. The blanket of salty Parmesan cheese and some bright acidity from the lime helped to bring this dish over the top.

Pork Belly [$14]
Apricots, kale, onion soubise

Bank and Bourbon - Pork Belly

I'm already sold on the fact that Chef Harkin and his crew know how to do pork belly. I still can't forget about their pastrami pork belly from this past Bourbon Bash! So I had to order this starter that ate like an entree. A huge slab of unctuous pork belly was slow-roasted at 250 in juniper and bay leaves and fall-apart tender. The onion soubise had great depth, which provided additional savoriness to each bite. The pickled apricots and jalapeno helped to bring forth some levity and balance to the dish. Spot on!

Trees Knees [$12]
Rittenhouse rye, Bourbon-aged maple syrup, fresh lemon, sage, smoked paprika

Bank and Bourbon - Trees Knees

At this point I was aching for the Secret Knock - Bank and Bourbon's signature bourbon cocktail with clarified milk. But I decided to branch out and try the intriguing Trees Knees, which yes, was the bee's knees! For those still afraid of bourbon, it's the perfect starter drink that doesn't go overboard on sweetness. The bourbon-aged maple syrup does bring some subtly sweet lightness to each sip, with bright acidity from the lemon and a bit of smoky kick from the paprika. Easily quaffable and a new favorite. Be sure to check it out during Happy Hour!

32 oz. Dry-Aged Cowboy Steak [$80]
Crispy fingerling potatoes, watercress

Bank and Bourbon - Cowboy Steak

The cowboy ribeye is always killer at Bank and Bourbon. Cooked medium to cater to the GF's tastes, the well-charred beef is so tender you might think it was filet! But don't get me wrong - the enjoyable fattiness of this ribeye could not be denied. The quality of the beef here really shines and it's no surprise that Bank and Bourbon sources approximately $10,000 worth of LaFrieda meats on the reg. For those in the know Pat LaFrieda is easily the king of beef these days. Make sure to check out Bank and Bourbon's burgers which are similarly sourced!

But back to the steak! You can't have meat without potatoes right? The crisp fingerlings still had bite within and were well-seasoned. We especially enjoyed the spuds that were extra crispy! I also appreciated the bitter watercress, which helped to provide some balance to the dish.

Chef then stopped by and decided to send out all of the new desserts on the recently revamped menu. Kudos to pastry chef Amanda Kaewvichien, who is constantly on-point with her standout desserts!

Blueberry Pie [$8]
Streusel topping, vanilla ice cream

Bank and Bourbon - Blueberry Pie

When you see blueberry pie on a menu, you're usually thinking you'll get a nice slice. At Bank and Bourbon, we're talking about a whole individual pie, topped with crumbly streusel and a healthy scoop of vanilla ice cream. The filling within were studded with whole blueberries and I couldn't help but smile with each bite.

Burnt Sugar Cake [$7]
Cream cheese icing, pineapple, coconut sorbet

Bank and Bourbon - Burnt Sugar Cake

The moist burnt sugar cake brought forth caramelized flavors that worked well with the cream cheese icing. The sweet pineapples and coconut sorbet helped to brighten up the richness of each bite.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich [$8]
Pretzel cookie crust, caramelized bananas, chocolate fudge

Bank and Bourbon - Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich

Ice cream sandwiches are often found at Bank and Bourbon and with good reason. This iteration channeled the city's often enjoyed pretzels. The hearty pretzel cookie shortbread contrasted nicely in texture with the creamy vanilla ice cream. With the bruleed bananas and chocolate fudge, this dish is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

So whether you're looking for a new Happy Hour spot or looking for a proper meal, be sure to give Bank and Bourbon a try. They've got top notch cocktails, incredible desserts, and well-executed dishes that'll have you wondering why it took you so long to give them a try.

Zsa's Gourmet Ice Cream Review

Zsa's Gourmet Ice Cream is an artisanal small-batch producer of ice cream. From pints of ice cream to ice-cream sandwiches, they've got a variety of indulgent treats to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. You can often find them at HeadHouse or Rittenhouse Square - be sure to follow them on Twitter to get your fix!

On a recent weekend afternoon, the GF came home with a pint of Zsa's salted caramel - as soon as I saw the small-batch design of the pint, I knew we were in for a treat.

Salted Caramel [$8]

The salted caramel was sweet and rich - that nutty point right before burnt. The interplay between salty and sweet was done to great effect. The ice cream itself was incredibly creamy with an almost gelato-like consistency.

If you're looking for high-quality ice cream with unique seasonal flavors and know that Zsa's Gourmet Ice Cream is nearby, run - don't walk.
