Being
a city boy for all of my life, coming to Lake City, MI has a lot of
perks. There aren't many places in the city where you can just relax on a
lake without a care in the world. One of the better perks though? It's
all about the largest cone in the North - served to you by Tasty Treat!
As
you enter into the shop, you can appreciate the small town feel. It's
definitely the type of place most families and kids stop by after
dinner.
So I stepped right up and asked for the Largest Cone in the North. After receiving a bemused smirk (for good reason!), they got to work on my cone.
I mean look at it. There was easily close to a half gallon of soft serve on that cone.
King-Size Soft Serve ($6)
Chocolate and Vanilla Twist
After
getting stared at by most of the patrons in the shop, I got to work on
my cone. But after just a few bites, I had to put it in a huge
soft-serve cup to prevent most of it from getting on the ground.
I mean, it's pretty ridiculous when you compare the size of the actual cone and the amount of ice cream in the cup! And if you're wondering - no I wasn't able to finish it. But let me tell you, the leftovers (easily 2/3 of the monstrosity) were just as good the next morning!
Mint Chocolate Chip
The
GF went with three scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream, which was
no small feat in itself. Rich, creamy, and decadent, this was a nice
treat after a long day on the lake.
So
if you're ever Up North by Lake City, don't hesitate to stop by Tasty Treat. In fact, if you even consider going to the Dairy Queen nearby,
the GF's mother will get you. It's all about supporting the mom and pop
shops in this family!
