Giordano's Review

A few months late - but I ask you, what is love? To me, it's a pie (or two) from Giordano's in Chicago. True love? The fact that the GF knows that all I need for Valentine's day is a Giordano's pie and lingerie.

These pies bring me back to Monday nights in Evanston, IL where my college buds and I would get a four 50% off pies and induce our respective food comas. Be warned though - if you're not a fan of cheese, you won't be a fan of these deep dish pies. Uno's, Lou Malnati's, and Gino's East can take a step to the left. It truly is all about the cheese here.

For Valentine's Day,  Giordano's went the extra mile and made the pies heart-shaped! Shipping just one pie is pretty pricey, so clearly you should get at least two ($57.99 including shipping). Get four and they're especially reasonable ($82.99). You can choose cheese, sausage, pepperoni, veggie, or spinach. The GF decided to mix it up and get me a pepperoni and a veggie. Well played.

All you do is pop them in the oven for about 20 to 30 minutes at the directed temperature, which depends on how crispy you like the crust and the type of toppings within.

Then dig in!

The veggie pie has green peppers, onions, and mushrooms that are surprisingly fresh despite the overnight trip. The meaty pepperoni offers a more savory option. The tangy, tomato sauce atop the pie is a nice contrast to the heaviness of the cheese. The slightly salted, buttery crust brings it over the top. Delicious.

How can you say know to such a beautiful thing? In fact, it has been awhile since I've had one of these homemade slices from Chi-town ...
