PHS Pop Up Garden Review

This is for a series of posts related to Iron Chef Jose Garces including:

One of the highlights of 2013 was checking out the third-annual Pop Up Garden - an exciting collaboration between Four Corners Management and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Even Iron Chef Jose Garces got in on the action by providing good eats from the Garces Group.

The lot at 313 S. Broad Street was one of the most successful PHS Pop Up Garden spots - open from May to October. The space allowed for a lush tree canopy and gorgeous lights, highlighting the creative design as well as some PHS Flower Show pieces.

Amidst all of the greenery were picnic tables and chairs - a great spot to sit and enjoy a beer, cocktail, and some grub.

While the food menu was tempting, because the GF and I had dinner reservations that night, we opted to simply grab a few drinks with some of her co-workers.

Spiked Root Beer ($8)

I opted for a spiked root beer - Yard's spiked with Art in the Age's Root, which is one of my favorite cocktail mixers. This was refreshing and easy drinking. I could have downed three or four of these.

Frozen Margarita ($7)

The GF went with a frozen margarita which was pretty standard and nothing to write home about. But for $7 and the vibe of the Pop Up Garden, I'll take it!

So when the Pop Up Garden ... erm ... pops up in late Spring this year - be sure to grab a brew, cocktails, and some snacks while relaxing under a PHS canopy of trees with your friends.
