Center City Fruit Truck Review

Ever have the need for some sweet and succulent fruit? Can't choose between bananas, apples, oranges, or pineapple? Simply too lazy to cut them up? Is Whole Foods too expensive for your budget? OK enough with the 20 questions  let me provide with a great option for those who work in the city.

If you look closely in Center City, you'll notice that there's an army of fruit trucks littered around Arch Street. For a pittance, you can get quite the bounty of various fruit to satiate your sweet tooth. All without taxing your budget.

They offer a variety of sizes, including party platters that are just as well presented as Edible Arrangements - without the 300% markup.

Extra Large [$8]

On a weekly basis, I tend to pick up an extra large, which provides enough fruit so that rubber bands are needed to hold the package together. For the GF and I - this can provide snacks for a few days out of the work week. In addition to the mix of honey dew, cantaloupe, watermelon, orange, strawberry, green grapes, and pineapple, two bananas are tossed in the mix. Not too shabby.

Small Party Platter [$20]

But when we feel the need for an entire week's worth of fruit? I simply bring a large empty tupperware container which is subsequently filled over the brim. This container is the size of their small party platter and can clearly feed several families. They will obviously provide you with a party platter packaging of their own, but hey- doesn't hurt to go green!

These fruit carts are located throughout the city and seem to be affiliated with each other because they have the exact same menus. They're typically open Monday through Friday, from 6AM until they sell out (usually around 3-4PM). The purveyors are friendly and efficient - so skip the afternoon Starbucks and be sure to check them out!
